THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“Every day is important for us because it is a day ordained by God. If we are bored with life there is something wrong with our concept of God and His involvement in our daily lives.
Even the most dull and tedious days of our lives are ordained by God and ought to be used by us to glorify Him.”
Jerry Bridges

Stay with us Lord; for it is almost Evening – Short Online Reflections

The six Western  Dioceses (the Tuam Province) have planned a new initiative as part of the ongoing response to the pastoral challenge presented by COVID-19. One of the important Gospel stories of these Easter days is the account of how the two disciples met the Risen Jesus on the road to Emmaus and how they asked him: “Stay With Us Lord ; it is almost Evening”. With this in mind, we are inviting you to join us for a short (20 min.) Reflection, each Sunday evening at 6.30 pm between now and Pentecost. This Sunday 17th May, Dr Máirín Glenn and Mr Redmond Connolly will give the reflection live from St Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina in the Diocese of Killala.  You can watch live at www.churchtv.ie/ballina

Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2020
It is with great disappointment that we convey the news about our pilgrimage to Lourdes this year. It is postponed and will be rescheduled for 27th August 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, governments and health authorities (Ireland and France) have placed restrictions on movement and introduced physical distancing as a means of reducing the spread of the virus. It is in the light of these and other measures but above all, the health and safety of our pilgrims that this decision was made. Thank you for your support and understanding. Let us trust in our loving God, seeking our Blessed Lady’s protection and the intercession of St. Bernadette.
